Beginner, Initiation, Minor Novice and Major Novice Programs
(Full-Ice/Full-Ice Transitions)

Major Novice - Age 8 - 2011 birth year
- These children will be registered in Major Novice and play in that division. Major Novice will play transitional ice (meaning 1/2 ice til December and full ice staring in January) with regulation size nets. Major Novice will play in either the Southern Counties Rep or Local League System.
**If a 2011 birth year child would like to move DOWN to the Minor Novice division the process is to complete the child movement form on the WDMHA website and apply to move after the season has started. The convenors will access the skill of the child and the numbers in each division and with the parents decide if the move can/should be accommodated. If the move is approved, you will be reimbursed the $175 registration difference between the two divisions.

 

Minor Novice - Age 7 - 2012 birth year - These children will be registered in the Minor Novice division. This division will play 1/2 ice exhibition games with smaller nets and dressed goalies. The practices will be shared with all teams in this division and be skill-based stations developed from the Hockey Canada pyramid system. Games will start mid October and Jamborees will be decided by the parents/coach of the team after the season starts.
**If a 2012 birth year child would like to move UP to the Major Novice division, the process is to complete the child movement form on the WDMHA website and apply for movement after the season has started. The convenors will assess the skill of the child and the numbers in each division and with the parents decide if the move can/should be accommodated. If the move is approved, you will be required to pay the $175 registration difference between the two divisions.

 

Senior Initiation - Age 6 - 2013 birth year - These children will be registered in the Senior IP division. This division will play 1/2 ice exhibition games with smaller nets and dressed goalies. The practices will be shared with all teams in this division and be skill-based stations developed from the Hockey Canada pyramid system. Games will start mid October and Jamborees will be decided by the parents/coach of the team after the season starts.

 

Junior Initiation - Age 5- 2014 birth year - These children will be registered in the Junior IP division. This division will play 1/2 ice exhibition games with smaller nets and no dressed goalies. The practices will be shared with the beginner program and be skill-based stations developed from the Hockey Canada pyramid system. Games will start mid December and Jamborees will be decided by the parents/coach of the team after the season starts.

 

Beginner - Age 4 and below - 2015 birth year and younger - These children will be registered in the Beginner program. The practices will be shared with the JR IP division and be skill-based stations developed from the Hockey Canada pyramid system. The children will play games starting in Mid Feb if we are able to find another centre to play, (Most centres don’t travel and play games with this group) Any jamborees will be decided by the parents/coach of the team after the season starts.
