SEASON START INFORMATION!
Submitted By Darnell Lambert on Sun 09 05, 21
The Wildcats Hockey season begins this week!  Here is some preliminary information on the season start:

All Skates (warm-up skates) – Begins Tuesday, Sept 7.
All players registered with Waterford Hockey will begin warm-up skates with their age division next week.  Ice times for September are NOW posted on the website.  At this time, U11 and above are getting three shared ice times per week. Once tryouts are done at the Norfolk Minor Hockey level, you will be able to formalize teams and each team will receive two hours of ice per week. Please look for your players ice time by age/division.  Divisions are based on your players age as follows:

Player Age          Division
3 and 4                 U5
5                          U6
6                          U7
7                          U8
8                          U9
9 or 10                 U11
11 or 12               U13
13 or 14               U15
15 or 16 or 17     U18

Attendance at the RINK
Prior to attending the rink, you will need to complete COVID screening for your player(s). Details on the use of the Sportsheadz App for screening can be found below. At this point do not expect changerooms to be open.  Please arrive with your player dressed (skates and helmet off - MASK ON). Chairs will be available in the rink for putting on skates. For those that require assistance tying skates - parents/guardians may assist so long as they wearing a MASK and have cleared the COVID Screening questions.

Sportsheadz App to be used for COVID Screening

All parents or guardians who had a valid email address in the HCR were added to the app, along with registered players. Each of the email addresses that were added should have received an email with instructions on how to download the app. Completion of the Digital Health Check will be mandatory prior to each ice time as this is how we will be conducting COVID screening this season.

OMHA Vaccination Policy

On September 3rd the OMHA has adopted a mandatory vaccination policy.  This policy affects all vaccine-eligible players, game officials, OMHA officials, instructors, association officials, team officials and volunteers.  All affected persons must be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021 to participate in sanctioned activities.  Please see the Sept 4 announcement for details on the OMHA Vaccination Policy.

We are actively working on a process to accept and file proof of vaccine from all affected persons. We have some time to get this organized as OMHA has provided October 31, 2021 as the deadline.

Regular Season

Waterford Hockey is part of the intertown Hockey League – playing teams from Delhi, Six Nations, Langton, Ingersoll, Burford, Norwich, Simcoe, Port Dover, Paris and Tillsonburg. Season games will most likely commence in mid/late October – coaches will advise on the game schedule has been set.

Parent Volunteers:

Parent Volunteers who wish to assist on the ice, on the bench or in the change room will require a valid Vulnerable Sector Check or completion of the Volunteer Offence Declaration Form to participate. Members of the Waterford Executive will be present during the first few ice times for their teams to ensure there are coaches present, and that health screening is being completed.

More information will be shared in the days and weeks ahead, so please check the website regularly.  In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at the arena soon!
