WATERFORD MINOR HOCKEY SCORES $49,900 GRANT
Waterford, ON – In 2021, Waterford District Minor Hockey Association received a $49,900
grant from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating
stream. These funds, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will assist
with facility rental costs and help the Association continue providing
affordable opportunities for young people to play hockey.
“It is fantastic news that local organizations are receiving a hand up,” Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett said. “The past several months have been extremely difficult for not-for-profits to engage in any activity that sustains their programs. I truly hope this funding will enable Waterford Minor Hockey to offer quality programming at an affordable rate for young people in the community."
Waterford District Minor Hockey Association is the primary physical fitness and recreation provider for Waterford children and youth in the fall and winter. The Association’s revenue decreased substantially during the pandemic – and at the same time, ice rental costs increased significantly. This grant helps keep registration affordable for families while the Association explores new fundraising approaches.
"The impact of this grant cannot be underestimated; it will allow Waterford Minor Hockey to provide an environment where children can experience physical activity and community while playing hockey,” said Adam Howe, President of Waterford District Minor Hockey Association. “This grant has allowed us to continue delivering hockey programming during these unprecedented times, undoubtedly having a positive impact on the physical and mental health of our hockey families.”
The Waterford District Minor Hockey Association is committed to offering a safe and inclusive environment to members of the community that encourages teamwork and physical activity through hockey.
